Big thanks to Graham and Craig, who within minutes of each other both sent me the latest (and perhaps coolest) Channel 4 ident. And who am I to deny you seeing both?
I definitely prefer these semi-plausible ones over some of the others, but until something better comes along, the whole series is still some of the best stuff happening on TV. Watch the other 14 idents in the series here.

Another of the cross-platformers, this time promoting ABC online, radio and television for you lovers of art. Crikey has picked up on the ABC’s high level of self promotion these days;
There’s nothing new here, even if it does make listening/watching/surfing the ABC feel like you’re in an Escher drawing
I don’t see a problem with it though, its certainly better then advertising. Check out the rest of the cross platformers (news, kids and science) here.

You’ve probably all seen the conceptually challenged ITV1 idents by now, and while these ITV2 idents stick to a theme at least, they don’t have much depth, but from a channel that describes itself as being personified by Cameron Diaz maybe thats what they were going for.
But none of that really matters, because ITV2 is the UK broadcaster of The American Office, a show which makes TV worth watching, and work worth going to.

Continuing with the rental of the world’s cheapest billboard gag that started on the Chaser’s website, the ABC has turned them into some coming soons for the show, which if you didn’t know already returns March 28th at 9pm.

We’ve got Red Nose Day in Australia, and we even have some form of Comic Relief, but I’m absolutely struck with the intensity in which the whole campaign seems to over take the United Kingdom. This year alone they’ve raised over £40,000,000 and still taking your donations.
Among all the other TV specials they ran to motivate you to donate, the one that caught my eye was Top Gear of the Pops, which combined the now canned formats of Top of the Pops with everyones favourite car show Top Gear, all in the name of charity.. aww.

Thanks to Libbie from Sixty40 for sending me their latest creation, the new look, new location Comedy Channel idents.
While the relocation of a channels headquarters usually isn’t that newsworthy, this series of on-air identities has taken Comedy’s move from Sydney to Melbourne to heart. They show the network mascot (the c’fer?) exploring its new home, surrounded by the omnipresent plug for some pretty funny shows (anyone else as engulfed in Arrested Development as me?).

If the details of the press release, the countdown to the countdown or the hilarious rental of the world’s cheapest billboards haven’t quenched your thirst for new Chaser stuff, then maybe this promo for the new series will.
For some of the best bits from last year, check out the Videos: Chaser’s War category of this blog, and in case you forgot, it returns Wednesday the 28th of March at 9pm to the ABC.

Thanks to Alex from Motion Foundry for sending me their latest creation, the new look, celebrity filled Channel Ten identity.
According to the press release the talent in these idents were shot in L.A., New York, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. Using the stars of a networks shows in promos can be a risky thing, you don’t want it to look like a contractual chore, and I just can’t help wondering if shooting them “in character” was the best idea.
Channel 4 shot a brilliant series with talent stretching over heaps of their shows. But, instead of getting them to say the network slogan, or play in character, they just had them answer simple questions about life (favourite swear word, happiest moment) and the final product is a stunning and refreshing take on the use of celebrities in network promos.
I’ve always had a love/hate thing with Channel Ten, but as long as they keep feeding me Simpsons and Letterman I’ll be happy.
