Sunday is.. sponsored idents.

I’ve only seen this a few times and I’m not sure if its still even running but its just a promo for Ten’s Sunday night line up of Law and Order and N.C.I.S. The most interesting part of this is the not so subtle Ford cars used in it, the whole thing being no doubt paid for by Ford.

After my inital shock from the less then ordinary first ident from ABC2 a whole series of rather cool ones has come out. This is the first one I’ve seen in the new series and while its a really simple idea I think the variations that could come of it are endless.

If you’ve seent the BBC2 Idents its kind of like that logo has escaped its yellow box and is touring Australia.

This is the second in a series of “water” themed idents from SBS. The blue one is still my favourite in the series but they are all excellent. At the moment SBS probably have the best idents on TV, as simple as they are, they are still better then most of the stuff being made.

ABC’s twist.

> RealPlayer Stream (558kb)

This series of idents has been running for ages on the ABC. They update them now and then but you can still see ones that are years old get an airing, which is either a sign of longevity or continued budget cuts at Australia’s national broadcaster (which is completely ad free). All the promo’s end with the tag line “every *something*, everyones” ABC. In this case its “every twist”. The tag is a reminder that the ABC is owned by the taxpayers of Australia.

There haven’t been any real stand out versions of this ident, but whatever I can find I will post.

Jeremy Irons. Ten’s new anagrams.

Lately when there isn’t time for a full 30 second ident Ten have been whipping out these. I’ve only seen a few of them and theres only so much you can do with the idea, but nonetheless there kinda fun, but as I’ve said before I really am over the whole ‘Seriously’ campaign. I’m 20 and the only other Ten slogan I can remember is ‘Turn Me On’, and Seinfeld was still on then so its definitely been a while.

Since the launch ABC2, the digital only channel has been getting promoted on ABC1 and on pay tv which it is also broadcast on. This is one of the promos telling people who don’t have digital tv what there missing out on (but much more subtle then that). There are a few more of these ads, all shot from inside a car and I’ll post them soon.

This is bigger then your love of blue.

The SBS (or Special Broadcasting Service) like the ABC is government funded and is designed to broadcast multicultural programs that “inform, educate and entertain” the nation. Unlike the ABC however it is allowed to broadcast ads in between programs. The SBS is the lowest rated free to air channel in Australia but happens to make some of the cooler idents and this one, although terribly simple and short is one of my favourites on air at the moment.

This is part of a series of “water” idents from SBS, I will post the others soon.

Terrible 2’s. They’ll grow out of it.

ABC2 is the new digital channel of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and was launched on March 7 2005. The channel is completley automated which allows for no live programming but helps cut down on operating costs. The channel runs a variety of programs including an extensive range of repeated shows originally aired on ABC1 from throughout the week.

This ident was one of the first aired on the network and is honestly pretty ordinary. The ABC2 logo is very similair to the BBC2 logo but they go in different directions with it and when I post the newer (and much much better) ABC2 idents you’ll see how.
