Another of the new ITV1 idents, and while I can’t deny it looks great, I still don’t get what its all about. See the rest of the new series here.

While Channel Ten has taken the stock photography/video route for their summer branding, SBS has retooled their entire look with this fresh and “cheeky” series (in quotes because its not a word I would normally use but can’t think of a better one).
Last summer however, SBS brought insects into our living rooms with a redesign that remains one of my favourites.

Its nice to see an ident being used to push a cause, and Five nicely work the ‘give’ message into their latest offering.
And in the spirit of the ident, don’t forget to chuck some coin the way of your favorite non-profit this Christmas day, be it Amnesty, Oxfam, or.. Wikipedia.

If its possible, I think I’ve romanticised dial-up internet. I’m sitting in my old bedroom on my Dad’s farm outside of Canberra, its Christmas eve, and the innocence (or what was left of it) of my youth is flooding back to me… I’m so glad Christmas is only once a year.
Check out what the ABC did last Christmas with their idents here.

I remember when I used to really like Ten, not sure what happened, but here’s what they’re doing for summer.
Get your Bloody Sunday’s straight from the source, Triple J has started podcasting here.

Sarah Murdoch (née O’Hare) has been filling in for Jessica Rowe while she’s on maternity leave from the Today show, this clip is pretty much the extent of what I’ve watched of it though.
If the Today show does ever improve it will be the greatest second act in breakfast television history. The news department is a reflection of the entire network, its literally the on-air face and voice of the people who work there, and if you don’t like it, I don’t see how you can have a positive opinion of the rest of the channel.

For some reason my earlier posting of this video disappeared from the blog.. anyway, its the latest BBC One Christmas ident, and like I said before the post vanished, its not as loud as last years, but still fits the circle theme pretty well.

You’ve probably heard by now that Kath and Kim is being developed for America by Ben Silverman. It’s easy to poo-poo such a concept, but Ben Silverman is the man that brought us the awesomly funny American version of The Office, so before I make the obvious “how will it translate” remarks I’m going to just wait and see how it goes, it could work, it could be great, or it could flop.
So if its from Ben Silverman, and is going to be on NBC, will that mean Channel Ten will get it here?
(Also, does the American Office rate well in the UK?)
