Its not much, but then again it is for children, its a nice introduction to the lissajous for kids, and I do like the dropped ‘c’ in the logo.

This is another of the BBC brand promos, the first one was about the liberation of Kabul, the second one was about Ricky Gervais and this one is about a BBC cameraman in Iraq.
In related news, MySpace has attacked the BBC for their plans and now the ABC is asking your opinion about their own news site.

Speaking of the BBC, a lot seems to be happening at the moment, including a proposal to introduce advertising on its international news site, the launch of a competition to redesign its homepage and the MySpacing of the whole beeb… Web 2.0 meets public broadcaster, cool.

The ABC did special ANZAC Day idents again, they were good and it was nice of them to actually do something but I still last years will be hard to top.

I know there is a heap of these new ABC idents I haven’t posted, but I really like this one, its better then a lot of the other frisbee-throwing, couch-sitting ones on air.
In ABC related news, Crikey is reporting that the ABC could be getting ready to license some of its content to a “third party website”, my first thought was iTunes (awesome!), but the article goes on to explain that “the license fee based on advertising revenue”, which would mean the repackaged content would come with some sort of advertising (not so awesome), and doesn’t sound like something that would happen on iTunes.

I’ve just finished catching up on the last two episodes of The Chaser’s War on Everything, and thought this was really well done. Its just a mock directors commentary to one of the new ABC idents, its kind of similar to what Dead Ringers do in between sketches with BBC idents, but still cool, and its nice to know that we are not the only people who notice when idents change.

In an effort to post some actual idents I thought I’d introduce this semi-regular column.. Better Know a Foxtel Channel (aka Foxtel Friday). So without further ado, Part 1 in this 63 part series…
First channel off the ranks is the networks flagship channel, FOX8 (the fightin’ eighth). FOX8 rebranded itself recently and continues to be the highest rated channel on Foxtel, thanks no doubt to The Simpsons.
Wikipedia also notes that it is “one of the very few channels to have been continuously broadcast since Foxtel’s foundation 10 years ago.”

Ten’s latest 60 second ident, they’re still going with the ‘what I like about you’ theme.
I’m not a fan of the “all our celebrities partying” thing, at least Channel Nine’s ‘Still the One’ song and dance had something a bit more inspired (even if it is apparently a rip of some Michael Buble video clip).
