Caught these while I was in Sydney a few months ago, obviously the Jana Wendt one probably isn’t running anymore, but not sure about the others.

The Chaser may do a good job putting A Current Affair and Today Tonight in its place, but nothing is quite as fun as the crap these two shows come out with themselves.

So with Naomi Robson being deported from Indonesia while trying to save Wa Wa from cannibals, lets have a look at how the two rival networks covered the event.

And be sure to see the story following the Wa Wa report, its good to see so much diversity.

Like I’ve said before Canberra only gets the SBS EPG, but on my recent night in Sydney I managed to capture Nine’s new guide, and Seven’s as well. Ten’s remains embarrassingly out of date so I didn’t bother with it.

All seemed kind of… blah. They’ve taken a unique show and turned it into everything else on television, must miss.

Jana Wendt’s final seeya on today’s Sunday program. The show is being retooled and the new “chattier”, Weekend Sunrise’d version will be hosted by Ellen Fanning and Ross Greenwood (neither of whom I recall ever being that interesting).

So, has Eddie done anything to help the image of Nine since becoming boss?

The opening of Canberra’s other full length local news, Win. I don’t know enough about the technical side of things, but they must be filming it with handycams because the quality is just horrible.

First it was the Chaser that showed us the video of the Today show making a continued fool of itself, well now Media Watch has taken a look at the Tapestry of Seven vs Nine.

This video also includes the famous “Ambulance chaser” promo that Nine ran during the miners interview.

Its been nearly a year since I last compared the three commercial news opening sequences, and while not much has changed for Seven or Ten (except the Rowe thing), Nine have been tinkering away.

These were all captured last night, so they all compare the same stories, and they are all dominated by the backdown of the Prime Minister over the sale of the Snowy Hydro.

Like you needed another reason not to watch the Today show, but The Chaser’s War found one…

Jessica, I feel quite safe yes, and not because I’ve got these armed soldiers behind me, who were put there by your stage manager here to make it look good, I don’t need these guys here.

– Brigadier Michael Slater, responding to Jessica Rowe on the Today show asking him about how he feels about his own safety.

Nine’s $1.95 down-loans

virgin

In an ominous start to the Australian TV download scene the Nine network is offering this week’s episode of McLeod’s Daughters available for download for free. After that though it will cost $1.95 an episode and you won’t own the video, you’ll just have a license to watch it for five days.

It doesn’t work on a Mac (of course), and I’m still struggling to get it download on my Mum’s Compaq, instead of just letting you download the file they have this tortured flash interface which is still loading.
