That other digital channel

sbs1

> RealPlayer Stream (1.7mb)

sbs2

> Quicktime Download in H.264 (4mb)

When it comes to the extra channels available on digital TV, ABC2 is pretty the extent of it for me. But, SBS do offer their World News Channel, and it’s a pretty awesome resource of international news broadcasts, and although its not much use to english-only speaking me, I’d imagine it would be pretty sweet for people looking for news broadcasts in their prefered language.

Triple J listeners get three hours of Zan Rowe every morning, but in the UK they get two hours of some guy called Zane Lowe.. this is a very cool promo for his BBC Radio 1 show.

The song is Crazy by Gnarls Barkley.

One year of Two

ABC2, the digital sibling of Australia’s national broadcaster launched one year ago today.

Personally I watch it more then some free to air channels, and the idents that accompanied the launch were the catalyst for me finally starting this blog. Currently the station doesn’t have any live telecasts, and is still restricted in its content (thanks to legislation), but even with its problems; the Sunday morning Rage’s, every state’s Stateline, Lateline in the morning, and never missing a Media Watch have made ABC2’s first year in existance more then worth it for me.

Its shown just a small taste of what multichanneling can bring, and I can’t wait for ABC Three or ABCNews 24, when/if they should ever arrive.

I captured this promo for abc.net.au on ABC2 this afternoon.

For more videos check out the ABC2 category of this blog.

This is a few weeks old now, but Ten have always done well by The O.C. after Nine dumped it, and although I don’t watch the show, it always seems to have cool music.

Tonight. ABC. 9.30pm. “20 Hours in America”.

The re-election campaign of President Josiah Bartlet is underway and moving quickly – so quickly that after Bartlet finishes a speech in Unionville, Indiana, Josh, Toby and Donna are accidentally left behind by the motorcade containing C.J. Cregg and the other staffers. The three must find their own way back to Washington D.C.

Network Ten’s refresh has kind of caught me off guard, but I’m slowly getting more videos together, this one is their new signposts (is that the right word?).

The SVU’s

Just some of the new promos for SVU, the footage not in 16:9 must have been supplied by the studio as promotional material, but I really like it, and the music on the first video is nice and dramatic. The second video is for a specific episode, the simple black and white graphics at the end are really good though I think.

Al Harding, the composer and singer of “Light My Way”, the song that accompanies the latest ABC promos has left a comment on this blog, its been left in the original post about the song, and I thought I’d share it with you here. He writes;

Hey Guys,

I have just read your collective kind remarks re my song
‘Light my way”. I can’t believe how much interest it has created. I wish all my clients were as happy, as I spend most of my time composing Film and TV music that goes pretty much un-noticed, or at least un-appreciated !
You have rekindled my enthusiasm to write more songs, so
thanks to you all, particulary for being so passioniate about music !

Al Harding’s website can be found here, and as for those of us who’d like a copy of the song, he says;

“I’m not sure how I will go with providing copies for those interested, as it was commissioned especially for the ABC, but I’m working on it…”
