This weeks lesson: youth gone wild

The Chaser looks at the current affairs programs portrayal of all our wasted youths, reminisces on the days when kids fished and had wholesome upbringings free of the word “emission” and questions ACA’s polling techniques.

Nine’s Journalistic Prostitution

I didn’t watch the miners interview but apparently Nine ran a promo during it calling Seven “ambulance chasers” for the Kochie security tag incident.

Channel Nine are hardly anyone to question another networks ethics (throwing stones in glass houses and all that), and this is The Chaser’s response to it.

And in case you were wondering what those subliminal messages to the ABC’s new managing director Mark Scott were..

The Ad Road Test. Or, How I learned to stop liking advertising and embrace idents.

While there are some ads I like, most ads like the new Click deodorant one suck, I’m a graduate of a Bachelor of Communications (in Advertising), and its the general insincerity that drove me from attempting to get into the industry, and probably why I like idents so much.

This video is from last weeks Chaser and shows Chris trying to pick up with the help of his new supermarket scent, he oddly enough even gets into the Unilever offices where the stuff is made, and judging by the fact he didn’t get kicked out I’m guessing they approved (or didn’t know about it).

This weeks lesson: comedy

This has got to be the best show on television at the moment, I don’t know how they do it, but each week is just getting better at The Chaser’s War on Everything.

Don’t let the topic fool you, this was probably the most serious of the “This Week in Current Affairs” they’ve done. This is the most scathing attack they’ve done on A Current Affair and Today Tonight yet. Its funny how pointing out some bad jokes really makes these shows look irrelevant.

Andrew Hansen had a look on his face that really summed it all up, it wasn’t quite pity I don’t think, but you really got the feeling of just how genuinely pathetic these shows are.

Chas from The Chaser’s War on Everything trying to see how many times he could get in camera shot at the Logies, really well done.

This has got to be the best Australian comedy on TV at the moment (are there even any others?).

Virginity’s just an existentialist construct.

A little late with getting this one up sorry, hilarious all the same.

“And you call that journalism..”

beacons

Short piece from The Chaser’s War on Everything about the media’s coverage of Beaconsfield.

And you call that journalism..

That line didn’t actually come from this video, but I did see Naomi say it on Today Tonight this week standing out the front of the Beaconsfield Mine responding to an article in Sydney Confidential that she had a luxury trailer. Whether or not its true, she’s hardly one to question what is and isn’t journalism.

Chris Taylor from the Chaser’s War trying to divorce his wife and make Mel and David very uncomfortable on a live (or is it?) Sunrise broadcast.

First Update: yep, it was staged.

Second Update: Listen to Chris Taylor talk to Robbie Buck on Triple J about it.
