The 4.30 News on Seven has shifted from its Melbourne home with Rebecca Maddern to a Sydney studio with Mike Amor.

Sams back on updates. Wed-Friday. He is filling in for Bathy, who after sunday night lookded really pissed off. Bit of a worry. And didn’t Bec handle Mike really well today, quite funny. Mid year leave is all over the place. Ian Ross has already had his. So has Bathy, but she might be having more i think. In Brisbane Kay is on hers i know that much.

And bec will see us again tomorrow at 11.30. I don’t know where Ann is, I thought she had her leave while Bec did the news from melb. Their flood coverage is very god. One of my friends was on holidays near Bairnsdale and is now trapped there! lol. I will try and catch one of our daytime updates today.

Just saw the 3pm update in Melb. Clare Brady, one of the senior reporters, was presenting.

Yeah when the Morning news was out of Melbourne about a month ago for two weeks, only the first week Ann was away, the second Ann just did Sydney updates, while Bec did the News from Melbourne still and now that its back in Sydney they have the little ‘Morning Show news set, which is why i think they made Bec come to Sydney this time. I’m just highy pissed off that as a viewer of Seven through a Prime affiliate we only get the first hour of the morning show. They after the final advert before just on 10am show this pissy pre-recorded messeage from Larry and Kylie saying that from ‘August 20th we get the full morning show’ its a little different each day and new one is recorded daily.

9 really is going down the gurgler. Samantha Armytage is doing TMS news and the Morning News, also they had Sarah Groen on for a weather check. Maybe Bec was needed in Melbourne for the flood coverage. She won a Quill award for her coverage of the 2003 bushfires. I feel 7Melb will be stretched. We had 5 live crosses last night! 4 on the floods alone, Norm Beamon (who also did a live cross for tt) in Bairnsdale, Peter Morris in Mt Macedon, Mia Greves in Newry and Jasmine Burke in Traralgon. Then Dylan Howard on an AFL story. We also had special opening credits and backdrop for the flood crisis. No surprise 7news and tt won again in Melb last night.

Yeah they really going from strength to strength in Melbounre at the moment. Sydney still remains a very tight market! Hard to determine what is #1 in Sydney, with it all over the place most of the time, but so far this year they are leading, but only just. Wedny Kingston on Nine in the mornings is just a stone cold bitch looking character. Samantha seemed to be glowing and looking really happy about something on the morning news 2day. Wow, just saw a promo for Seven News tonight and it had the Rebecca Maddern and Sydney harbour back drop advertising thing. Normally its Chris Bath on for tonight and the weekend. Maybe were going to see Bec do our 6pm? Wow! I’ll let you know what happenes there, but they have ran that promo in the past by mistake on at least 2 occassions.

Hmm that’d be wierd if she did present in Sydney! She did present the 4.30 news. So she a Sam swapped for the day.

Hey did anybody see roscoe on Today? i didnt watch it, even for roscoe. Today and NNN are in need of a heavy facelift, which will be happening on Monday.

What? Another facelift? You know the new NNN music, well i recently discovered that NNN Melbourne 6pm has reverted to the old faster music but with the neurofen ad graphics.

Yeah Sara Groen did Sydney updates for the rest of the day and Bec did 4.30 and National Updates that night. Chris Bath did our 6pm news. What do you mean Adrian about Roscoe on Today?

Eeeww!! Why would he do that? I mean i know he was at the network for 38 years and was on the today shot, but his a member of Seven News. I would have thorght that his contract prevented him from appearing on Nine. Samantha Armytage did the News on Sunrise on Friday thats why she did the morning news and not the 4.30 news. They probably want to raise Sams profile on the show so they had her filling in for Nat, while Nat filled in for Mel who was live from the floods and storms etc. Good to she they are loyal in the sense that they still let Nat fillin for Mel and had Sam doing the news. Chris Bath did an update here in Sydney just a few minutes ago it was only a quick one about 20 seconds and she did a live cross to the Pasha Bulka on the Newcastle coast with a reporter. Very strange to see a live cross in such a quick update. It wasn’t like the first update they do for the day thats long and detailed, it was only short. And yet again with the Rebecca Maddern promo?? I think its a problem here in canberra with Prime Television. Because they time all there own update openers etc. This is so they can do the Building and update fly in thing then have a this news update brought to you by…… and then they cut the first 2 seconds of the update half the time due to poor timing. other times they do there opener too early and it finishes with the Sydney feed still having there update opener. Same thing with It takes two, they tend to cut it of about 2 seconds early before All saints and then we have our Prime ‘This program is rated M ….’ then cutback to the seven feed only to watch the last second or two of the Seven version.

“In April 2007, Amor has since gone back to be the United States Correspondent for Seven News which he has held for 6 years. He will still present news bulletins for 7 when he returns to Australia over summer.” eew! Hope its a lie. It would ease the anchor stortage but cause the ratings to hit the floor!!!

Bec no longer on weekend sunrise.she was dumped in favour of Talitha. I really think she does a great job. She is in the opener now and was anounced as the new news reader. Here’s the article from today’s Sunday Mail

Sun rises on weather girl’s weekends

Queensland weather girl Talitha Cummins has never been so happy to be working on weekends.

The Channel 7 precipitation presenter and fill-in newsreader will add Weekend Sunrise newsreader to her CV from today.

“I’ve always loved Sunrise and always wanted to get to Sydney with reporting or reading ot it’s just perfect; I still can’t believe it”, she said.

The new gig will see her present the weather for Seven’s Brisbane news on Saturday night, jump on an 8.45pm plane to Sydney, then get up at 5.30am to read the news at Weekend Sunrise, before hopping on another plane to Brisbane to do the weather again.

“It’s very hectic. I’ll have lots of frequent-flyer points,” she joked.

The role has come somewhat as a surprise to Cummins, 27, with it all happening in just two weeks.

“They send me down for a screen test and the night before I was going on the screen test, Mel (Melissa Doyle) happened to be sick’. A temporary reshuffle of presenters the net morning meant Cummins was asked to read the news bullitens.

“So basically I did that, got along with them really well and an hour later was offered the job… my head was spinning.”

While she is over the moon with the new position, it will mean that her weekends will be busy-busy-busy, not that she minds.

“It’s fine. I think it’s time to focus on my career and there’s a job to be done now.”

With her fiance former Olympic volleyballer Lee Zahner, based in Brisbane, Cummins has no plans on moving south permanently.

“We’re still very keen to stay here in Brisbane for as long as we can because I’ve worked really hard at establishing myself here”, she said.

But if a full-time position came up in Sydney “I certainly wouldn’t knock it back”, she said.

Meanwhile there have been a few new reporters added to the 7Melb team, all debuting this weekend. Yvette Grey and John Ross on news and Loretta Johns on Sport. Also Rob Gell is on holidays so Jennifer is doing the weather and tonight at the end of the bulletin instead of going to some footage and finishing with the 7news with: cnn, nbc etc banner they had a zoom out and studio pan.

Sure is, with updates at 9.30 and 10.30. Oh Nick i found something that could would probably agree with –

“Currently Hall presents National Nine News on weekends and occasionally fills in for Peter Hitchener. In recent months Hall has being the target of media disgust in reguards to her on air apperance, offen referred to as ‘Beastly’ and ‘Witch like’. It was belived that Hall went under the knife is an attempt to keep her youthful appearance or to maintain a more glowing and natural apperance like that of Channel Seven’s Melbournes weekend news reader, Jennifer Keyte.

Bec had a report tonight in the Sydney edition. The coles group and westfarmers take over. Good report.

NSW got local updates till 10.30pm with Chris Bath last night. The Pasha Bulker has provided us with the lovely Chris Bath or Samantha Armytage most nights with an extra update or two since it ran a ground weeks ago. I’m going to miss that boat lol

That Bec story on Coles was the lead story in Melb. I am noticing that in the stories she is doing lately she doens’t appear in them. Maybe time constraints, i assmue she was doing our updates today. Funny about Jo Hall. I must keep an eye on the papers for any more stories on her. Jennifer Keyte doesn’t hide her age yet it works, she is natural, same with the older still Ann Sanders. David Brown is on holidays so Rob Gell is doing our 6pm weather as well as the 4.30 news. Which also explains why Jen was doing the weather over the weekend.

Yeah i cant say i warmed to Rob Gell yesterday, he just didn’t do it for me, david brown never did it for me either, but in saying that Sara Groen doesn’t do it for me as well. Talitha Cummins on the other hand is a waste as a weather reporter. Love that girl. Your right about Bec not appering in her stories. She probably produced it in between updates in Melbourne. We played as the 4th news Item. Ah and the Pasha Bulker has gone *tear* there goes the extra updates!!!!

Oh how unfortunate. I love Brown and Gell. Find them very trustworthy and pleasant. Gell is a little less polished but I like that.

Well im very angry with Prime Television is canberra at the moment! They have given all 7News updates the flick throughout the day. We get the morning show ones, and 11.30 news, but then dont get any local (Sydney) updates till after the 4.30 news. What a cheap way to make more money. NOT HAPPY!!!

Win are worse!! There crappy news bulletin is not even a match for Prime updates. Our weather updates are the best. Daniel Gison presents them, his contracted to Seven for the V8’s too. We used to get all our prime news updates and a mix of seven news ones, the news updates we get are 12.30pm, 2pm, 4pm, 7.30pm and 10.30pm they take out the seven ones, but we got all others. Our weather ones take our the 9.50pm sport update and the 8.10pm weather update from seven sydney. we also have other weather updates that run at strange times like 12.05pm and 6.25pm right before it cuts back to seven news weather. The rest of sevens updates we get, or ‘we got’. Its bad enough they dont show the morning shows second hour due to home shopping crap and now this!!!!!! ARGH!!!! Prime are cost cutting and pissing me off!!!

Bec was doing the 4.30 news yesterday. Sounded like she had a cold. Peter Mitchell was apparently off sick or something last night because Jen Keyte did the 6pm.

I always miss the friday news coz im at work. Was it from Melbourne? or was it from ‘News Central’?

No unfortunately it was from Sydney. It must be mid year break for our team cos Rebecca was doing the news tonight and Michael Felgate was on sport. Those two have good chemistry. Still strange why Peter didn’t do friday.

Just entend his time off i guess? So there not choping and changing. Seven are still leading the News ratings in every capital city. Sydney remains the tightest market, but are winning every night for the past 28days !!!!!!

I know, its great! Melb used to be 7’s weakest but this year, 7news melb has soared! tt is still close and often goes either way but it has been a long while sine NNN had a win. Tho Today wins in melb and only melb for some reason.

Yeah, sunrise is hated in melbourne, for some weird reason. And has anyone realised that me nick and stu are just about the only people writing on here anymore? Out of all the people that were writing before!Like at the begining some Jarrod was yappping a lot but now hes nowhere to be heard!

Nationally last night 7news was the 2nd highest rating programme with 1.680million in the 5 mainland capitols, 60Minutes was inexplicable #1 with 1.682mill. However, in Melbourne it was a different story. 7news, with Rebecca Maddern and Michael Felgate on sport was #1 with 539,000. 60mins was next with 502,000 then Grey’s Anatomy on 481 and NNN on 436. Sydney was a different kettle of fish again. NNN was #1 for the night with 540,000! Then Grey’s on 495, then 60 mins on 477 then Backyard Blitz on 409 then CSI with 401 then ABC news on 387 then CSI Miami on 379 THEN 7news on 359,000!Making it 8th for the night! A poor result considering the strength of its southern cousin. 7news was number one in Brisbane and Perth (as per usual) but NNN and 60mins were strong in Adelaide where 7news was third for the night. With Peter on holidays and Jen doing weeknights it’ll be interesting to see how 7news Melb goes this week. Clearly people like Rebecca after being the number one news on Saturday night too and only 2nd for the night to Harry Potter who had 394 to 7news’ 390,000

I fear those rating Nick are the reason Chris Bath wont be getting her Anchor position!!! Different story weekdays, seven news with Ian Ross wins everynight, the gaps as small as 10,000 – 12,500 most nights, but its in the lead and has been for 41 days in row now. Chris Bath is losing to Mike Munnro!!!! Yuck!! Sydney remains the tightest market for news ratings for the network in the past few years. Seven in all over states have nice leads, perth has never had this problem always winning by about 120,000- 150,000 more viewers each night. NNN in sydney tonight was hosted by …wait for it …PETER HARVEY!!!!!!! His the worst presenter for that type of bulletin. His great at his reporting no doubts about it, but his presentation skills were leaving a lot to be desired. He looked tired, hunched in his chair, hard to understand at times, the audio was crap too, not his fault entirely. NNN news present (this is hard for me to admit) a really good sunday news. They have a more respectable news service on weekends, especially on sunday. They use there weekday weather and sports presenters Ken Sutcliffe and Jaynie Seal on sundays too, meaning they work 6 days a week, and that Jaynie Seal is preggers too, to Ed Phillips from Temptation. Sydney need to make there weekends on seven more appealing by adding a weather presenter and changing the backdrop angle on the harbour. Its the worst background angle atm, its really dark and dull. Bec is a warm host, good to see her attracting the ratings over Jo (Witch) Hall who has been around since 1200BC. Proves that Melbourne trust Seven for there news.

LOL jo has been at NNN since 1979, initially as a BrettMc Loed-esque fill-in, becoming weekend presenter since the legendary Brian Naylor retired, an Hitch moved up 2 weeknights. She is past her useby date and needs to be replacedPRONTO! Jen is great, so is Bec and Mitch, whom ill be seeing on TV when i go toMelbourne next month. On another note, school holidays in Adelaide, so i saw the Morning Show for the first time today! KAK is 1 viewer down lol!

TMS is great, I quite enjoy it. 7news lost to NNN in melb last night by about 3000 viewers. So a very close result. Adrian when you’re down Mitch, Sandy and David Brown will be back on weekdays and Jen, Tim Watson and Rob Gell should be back on weekends.

OMG!!!! Seven lost the ratings in the News in both Melbourne and Brisbane last night!!! Sydney did better the normal – Due to Peter Harvey Presenting!!!!!! lol !!! The Perth gap between NNN and seven news was about, oh only 180,000 viewers.

All was back to normal in Melbourne last night, 7news got 414,000 over NNN’s 390,000. In Melb It Takes Two was #1 with 560, then All Saints with with 467 then 7news. TT was tied for 6th with new Simpson with 375. ACA won in Melb with 386. 7news was the #2 programme nationally behind It Takes Two, TT was 4th. 7news won in Sydney with 379 to NNN’s 347. TT won also with 359 to ACA’s 333. Whether or not 7news wins in Melb, every night there are far more news viewers here than in Sydney. Even when you just add NNN and 7news together we have more people watching news at 6 but when you add ABC News, SBS World News Australian and Ten News at 5 the gap widens.

Well that small gap, normally of about 10,000-13,000 viewers has opened right up after Peter Harvey taking over NNN Sydney presenting this week lol. Go Ian Ross!!!! As for Melbourne ratings?? I dont understand them, they dont seem to reflect the rest of the nation, i mean ACA beating TT??? I guess that ACA is made in Melbourne these days.

But even when it wasn’t and TT was made in Melb it was a similar story. I don’t understand it either. People here seem to love 9 like Perthians love 7 but melb’s love for 9 is fading fast.

7news was 3rd nationally last night. Thank God You’re Here and House on Ten were 1 and 2 respectively. 120,000 more people watched TGYH in Melb than in Syd and 100,000 more Melbournians watched House. NNN had a strong night here, winning with 418 over 7news’ 393. Weekday viewers haven’t really taken to Jennifer Keyte it seems. NNN won by 4000 in Syd. Interestingly TT won here with 392 to ACA’s 376. In Syd TT had 324 to ACA’s 344.
