Live from… well, not Melbourne anymore.

I know that they still do one in sydney with Matt White and it was shown in Qld , but they now get there own, sydney continue to get theres also. 9’s cant be national because we get sydney ones here in canberra and they do in Qld too.

Hmm, maybe they do an AFL version for Melb, Adelaide and Perth and an NRL version for the northern cities. It would make sense since no one in Melb gives 2 shits about NRL and no one in Brisbane cares about AFL. I really don’t watch ANYTHING on ch9 so I am not sure. Everything about it is the pits if yo ask me. But that is a discussion for another time I expect.

Well Kylie Gillies confirmed Samantha will be back monday. Strange that there is no sport update on 7melbourne but I guess we get three local news updates plus a weather one at 8approx on weekdays and 10approx on Sundays (not sure about saturdays). During the day, in Melb at least, 9’s melb made news updates start very early, e.g. at like 11.45-12pm, only 15mins after the morning edition finishes. 7’s don’t start till 1pm.

In sydney and in queensland we too get weather updates at about 8pm.

Sam was back tonight and already doing extra hours, she filled in for Chris Bath who was at the Logie Awards. Bathy did a live cross to sam during the news, nine news sydney had Michael Usher, ten had Sharmain Dragun. I was in melbourne on thursday – saturday and i must say when i was at the docklands that the 7 sign was bigger then it looks, and the advertising for seven news around the outside Telstra Dome was impressive. i counted 30 “7 news, nightly at 6pm” signs, once inside watching the saints v carlton a saw the seven news box, sandy doin his cross for the news.

Oh them pricks at Nine want Lisa Wilkinson from weekend sunrise. They boned Jessica Rowe and the fact that they are in talks with Lisa means that Kelly is their second choice for presenter. Question remains, who would take Lisaâ€™s spot?? Seven confirmed that Lisa was talking to ‘Today’ and ‘Nine’ in a news report tonight.

I like the two different Melbourne news team ad’s. One altogether and one with Peter at the front and the others in the back. We have to different ons in sydney too, Ian in front with others behind him them one of them altogether. We dont have Chris Bath in ours, you guys have Jen in your. Chris bath gets her own standing in front of the bridge, doesn’t even include Ben Damon from sport. When Sam fills in she has the same ad, but with her. The Queensland one includes the entire team, weekend and weekday, well it did up till before Tracy left and Sharon came?

Sometimes we see ads with just Jennifer, eg at the end some updates, but mostly we get the one with them all equal tho you do see the one with peter at the front a bit. Strangely none of them feature Tim Watson or Rob Gell from weekends. When Rebecca Maddern fills in she doesn’t get her own ads unfortnately and everytime I see her she does a better job. 7melb have very good advertising, docklands is impressive, 7 used to own part of telstra dome, but I also love their general ads on tv. And their special reports are generally pretty good, 9 tries but they just look pitiful and Peter Hitchener is just awfull. Chris Bath did a live cross to Jennifer tonight on our news too, as the last story before the first ad. Jen was going to the logies and we saw footage of David Brown and Peter Mitchell already there. In the gossip page of the Sunday Herald Sun it said Lisa Wilkinson had signed on to co-host the new 7 9am show. It also said how Naomi’s new show (I can’t wait to attend the pilot on saturday) will be lavishly expensive, slick, professional and entertaining and that Naomi has taken charge and has even been seen down in the workshop with a tape measure making sure things are being built to her specs! You go girl, take charge or you’ll end up like poor Jessica Rowe. Did anyone else catch Naomi on Hamish and Andy’s Logies Spit Roast on FoxFM (or 2day FM in Syd and I don’t know the names of the other cities’ stations). She was so funny. Every interview I read in a paper or magazine or hear her on the radio I love her more. Despite what 9 would have you believe she is common place about Melb, never was she locked away from private eyes, maybe cos 9 is so Sydney-centric no one from there ever saw her.

lol, yes Bec is quite good, i did enjoy her updates. Its strange that Seven would mention it if she has signed on to the new 9am show, by the way nick, any ideas as to the name yet??? Yes i too am looking forward to seeing her new show. i think she will kick arse!!

Naomi got a mention of her new show on TT tonight. Poor thing got ripped on last night at the logies too, as did kochie hehehe

I know but from what I’ve seen Naomi always gives as good as she gets. TT is just awfull now, evidently the gov is keeping big cats from us. SHIT! Just the way the present a story has changed. Naomi was looking very good at the logies from what i’ve seen, i used my foxtel iq to record it as it conflicted with beautiful sunday. My journalism tutor at deakin tells me Naomi was bagged out by Adam Hills, she hates Naomi and took great pleasure in telling me. But at the moment noone bags anna coren because she is a journalist, so was Naomi, but in ten years, people will only know her for tt and she will be deamonised in the same way.

Did everyone get there Budget updates tonight? Some were hosted from 7 studios in canberra. With a Parliment house canberra styled intro. We in canberra gave Prime news wrap up at 10.30 the flick for the Chris bath update tonight, which was great!!! it was quite long too. I like the canberra look on seven news, they should move into canberra they would kick arse, not like WIN news is any competetion! Seven news sydney win the rating for news sometimes in canberra, which is just a reflection on WIN TV and Nine

In melbourne we had budget updates as well as some of the regular ones. Some of the budget updates had canberra landmarks in the graphics and they were presented from Mark Riley on what appeared to be the steps of Parliament house. I also saw a new wave of 7news promos in melb. We now have “While you’re watching (insert show name, eg ugly betty) seven news is watching victoria and it has a fly in over aus into melb. There are also ones that flash clips of all the melb reporters in the field with voice overs to the effect of repsected journalists then it goes to shots of Peter at the desk and in the control room while talking about being Melbourn’e new #1 in news etc and how they report so we can decide etc. There is also a really cool one that is like a fly on the wall montage of all the reporters doing their thing, like you’ll see Cindy Fergusan (reporter) shouting commands about a story, shots of cameramen discussing shots with reporters, reporters doing live crosses, David Brown preparing the weather, sport reporters talking footy with Sandy in the offcie etc…it was very cool.

HAHA Jess got boned lol. Oh and im going to melbourne in august.Will Naomis show be ready by then.Watching old YOUTUBE videos of Naomi, shes grown on me lol. Cant wait to watch mitch{im there tue wed thur}

I certainly hoping Naomi’s show will be on air, if the pilot is a success I imagine it’ll be on sooner rather than later. I miss Naomi. Mitch and the gang are a boon to use the kath and kim venacular.

Lisa Wilkinson has been confirmed as Jessica Rowe’s replacement on the Nine Network’s morning program TODAY.

Wilkinson, who had been co-hosting Weekend Sunrise on the Seven Network, will begin her role with Karl Stefanovic at TODAY on May 28.

A former editor of Dolly and Cleo, Wilkinson said she was looking forward to the challenge of doing morning television five days a week.

She said she had consultated with her journalist husband Peter FitzSimons, who does a morning shift on the radio, and her three young children, before making the decision.

“Both Mel Doyle and Wendy Harmer have often told me over the years that the breakfast slot is one of the most child-friendly in the media for a working mum,” she said.

Nine’s director of news and current affairs, Garry Linnell, said Wilkinson had a “strong journalistic pedigree”.

“Her warmth, empathy and intelligence are ideally suited to a program like TODAY,” he said.

Jessica Rowe’s departure from the show was confirmed last week after several months of speculation. She had been on maternity leave for several months and was replaced for a stint by model Sarah Murdoch.

TODAY’s current fill-in host, Kellie Connolly, had also been tipped to move into the full-time role.

Connolly caused a stir earlier today when she collapsed during an on-air cooking segment.

She returned to air 15 minutes later, reassuring viewers she was OK.

“I’m fine thank you, I’m not pregnant, I’m not diabetic, it was just one of those things,” she said.

A Nine spokeswoman put the on-air drama down to tiredness, saying it had been a big Logies week for Connolly.

“She was a bit light-headed, she’s had a big week and she gets to work at 3am,” the spokeswoman said.

“(She) had a bit of a collapse, she went out and had some oxygen and was back on air.

“She’s fine.”

So much for her signing on as the new 9am show co-host!

I know, tad disappointed. They might replace her on Weekend Sunrise with Bec Maddern, she did the news a few times.

Maybe?? Adrew flys up from melbourne just to host Weekend sunrise, why not bec too? But there was a rumor that Kelly conollie was going to ‘make the switch to seven’ for the role. But reports from nine suggest that they have many roles for her and she has a good future at the network? So i take it they wont be putting her back in the news position on today, they wont boon Wendy Kingston so kelly can have her old position back they wont boon Michael Usher i wouldn’t imagine. Where the hell is she gonna go? I think that Gorgie Gardiner who many years back hosted sunrise with Mark Baretta should do the weekend role, she did go to Nine was news reader on Today and held the National day time anchor position too, she would be good.

As of Monday, Seven will broadcast its â€œFirst at 4.30pmâ€ news bulletin live on its Yahoo!7 website. Internet users will be able to tune in at 4.30pm AEST at work and at home and catch Samantha Armytage with the latest news from across the country and around the world.

The bulletin will be broadcast live, online, Monday to Friday each week. The online broadcast will also include advertisements, giving advertisers the unique opportunity to reach more viewers.

Sevenâ€™s 4.30 News will be the first in Australia to broadcast live on the internet at the same time it goes to air in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Broadcasting live online will give Adelaide and Perth viewers the chance to view the bulletin as it happens.

Sevenâ€™s Director of News and Public Affairs Peter Meakin said this is one more way that viewers are kept constantly up to date.

The live broadcast online will begin at 4.30pm in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane; 4:00pm in Adelaide and Darwin; and 2:30pm in Perth.

Terribly good idea, I read the press release on the 7 corporate site. Kudos to them. I will be interested in what ads will run.

Can I just say, Naomi Robson is the funniest, loveliest and most natural person I’ve ever met and my god the body that woman has! Her show was great. Very funny, amazing guests and terribly entertaining. We got to meet her after and I gave her a bit of a cuddle, had my photo with her and had a little chat. She is very approachable and personable. And the 7melbourne centre! Talk about posh. We walked through the news room to get to the studio and we saw some of the reporters etc. And we saw the national control room from behind the ann on the 10.30. All so very cool. A marvellous day was had by all.

How great! Yes people are so tight towards her, im sure is really very nice. I look forward to seeing it! Are they airing the pilot anytime soon?

Not sure. It was moe a series of segments, i guess to see how it would work and how naomi was. a test for the network. So if it s commissioned they’ll film proper intros etc. but it was great

As I said it was just a pilot, and only different segments were filmed to see how she would do. So no confirmed date or anything. She was very laid back, funny and cheeky. It is called The Naomi Show, it has a posh set and flash graphics too

Do we know who the 9am show hosts are anyone?? Can’t Be Larry, because he was with 9, left for seven, left for ten to do that dog school crap that failed then surely seven wouldn’t want him back.

Yeah, ‘The Morning Show’ will be hosted by Larry, and possibly a yet to be decided female co host.

Just read a press release on the seven corporate site. 7’s new morning show, The Morning Show, will be hosted by Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies. It appears like it will be similar to Sunrise, and will be made at Martin Place by the Sunrise team. It will start in June

Do we know whats happening to the 10.30 morning news now that the ‘morning show’ goes from 9-11am? will it be axed or will it be incoparated into the show or will it go head to head with nine and ten at 11am?

I remember hearing some talk about 7 ressurecting 11am with Ann Sanders. And wikipedia still says ACA is in sydney if indeed tracy did move back.

Couldn’t find it. I have been to the 9 complex in melb. It is awfull. Looks like a 19th century factory. I went to see Temptation and it was just the most awfull dingy studio and building! 7 and 10 have new and posh offices in melb. and SBS, radio at least, is at Federation Square

i think sunrise needs to REALLY lift its game in melbourne. i no this sounds silly but today is thrashin sunrise 101000 to 76000 in melbourne.

Yet it wins nationally?? thats strange?? I think its because nine is seen as a melbourne network sorta , and because sunrise is very syndey based, with the whole ‘out in the plazza’ and ‘martin place’.

Yeah but nine is just as bad on today. and frankly NNN national bullitens are sickeningly sydney based, so all the 7newses win in melb. the 4.30 always did and now at 6 7news wins as does tt usually. It is clear sunrise are trying to aim more at melb this year with special ads etc. But this is wot i am saying, there are more tv viewers and more news viewers in melb than anywhere so why would everything be based out of sydney. and this has only happened since the 2000 olympics.

Bec doin 4.30 news live out of sydney this afternoon, we also did the 3.35 and 4pm sydney updates. Chris Bath is anchor for two weeks while Ian Ross is off, therefore sam is doin weekends.
