Along with the Benelux countries, Scandinavia is high on my list of groupings-of-three-nations I really want to visit (Sweden for the Saabs, Belgium for Antwerp).

Thanks to Hans I’m happy to be able to show off some of Norway’s idents from the countries largest commercial broadcaster TV2. In my research for something interesting to say about Norway I discovered that the country is rated #1 in the UN Human Development Index which isn’t too shabby at all (Australia is #3).

(It looks like BBC Two will be relaunching their idents, I’ll post whatever I can get my hands on soon.)

These are probably better than the new BBC 2’s. Even then though, still not a brilliant concept. Nice to see though, so thanks! 🙂

I second that MattM…i’m kind of desapointed at the new BBC Two idents, to begin with; I thought both BBC One & Two would have some uniformity in their identity and it seems it’s not the case (at least they should had changed the font in the BBC Two to be equal to the one in BBC One)

Firstly, let me start by saying that these are superb (the whole of Europe seems to be taken with the “numbers-being-formed-from-things-in-their-environments” concept)!

Secondly, I would like to support what Melissa is saying about the new BBC Two idents. Avenir is the wrong choice of font – there is no uniformity with BBC One (frankly the logo-in-box idea should disappear completely). While trying to build on the success of their idents from the 90s they have created ones which differ greatly from the originals in two ways – they aren’t tongue in cheek and they aren’t clever! They have ripped off Channel 4’s programme promotions, and – worst of all… they have actually GOT RID OF THE “2”! All we see now are “2”-shaped holes in things.

I would actually support them if they simply re-used their old ones from the 90s – they showed some yesterday in the run-up to the new idents being launched and they still worked incredibly well on screen.

Nice!

I’d just like to note John that you’ve put this into a catagory of “Television of the EU” but Norway isn’t actually a member of the EU!

Ah Sean, you’ve found my Achilles’ heel, a complete lack of the most basic geopolitical knowledge.

Thanks, I’ve changed the category to ‘European Television’.

A mix of C4 and BBC 2. Quite refreshing, but not too original. However, for the toilet tiles part, seemed a bit dangerous if you were in there when it “happened”. no? 😉

These are fab, although they are sort of Channel 4-esque. 😛 These are short but sweet if you get what I mean.
