An incredibly simple use of aerial footage, combined with the familiar beats of music that screams “you’re watching a news channel” create a surprisingly effective collection of idents for Al Jazeera English.
They express the kind of simple dignity that an international news channel broadcasting to over 100 million people should command, as opposed to say this.

Who is the newsreader at the end of that FOX News clip?? A bit much on the bronzer there mate!!
It is Shepard Smith. Host of the Fox Report and Studio B. He’s got a few bloopers on YouTube.
Those aerials are gorgeous and simple!! It’s a timeless style that doesnt need to be constantly updated. Does anyone know if it was stock footage or filmed specially??
Yes they’re beautiful. They are called Aljazeera’s Overviews.I know it was a mixture of Getty stock and some filmed in South Africa. Who did the music, it’s very cool for News.
OK this from the web: The music was by Shreik. There are about 60 overviews achieved on a tiny budget. Most came via Getty library and were postproduced in Soho. Creative director Morgan Almeida’s concept was “to capture an objective overview of interntional events and to relate to the global audiences on an emotional level.”
How are these aerial videos shot? Are they captured through remote controlled mini helicopters or they they personally shot via a flight, be it helicopter or a small craft?
