SBS World News Australia relaunched on Monday last week. The above is a selection of tonights episode to give you a feel of what its all about. The new opener (with Google logo in tote) makes good use of satellite imagery, and the weather, aptly I guess uses a Google Earth feeling look, which while realistic is also distinctive enough to feel fresh compared to the rest on your television screens.

i must say, the google watermarking at the bottom feels a bit high-school media-ish. surely they could have found the imagery another way, or at worst slung google some money and included them in the end credits instead.
Why are they sidelining Mary? She is one of the most talented and loved journalists in the country!
For a national TV station, leaving the Google watermark on the screen at the opening sequence is pretty unforgivable. Also, couldn’t they actually use the real landmarks, instead of using Google Earth?
I don’t like the set very much – it’s quite static and plasticky.
Anything would be an improvement on that old, eurovision-style aqua thing they had going on before…
I like the soundtrack “New World in the Morning” you chose. Very apt to your show.
Might I ask who’s the singer so I could grab a CD and play it in full at home. He’s got a nice voice.
Thank you.
