The new BBC idents have been unveiled, for more info about the concept read the press release, but for now until they launch on screen in October these 4:3 versions from the promo reel will have to do.
I really liked the old dancer idents, and I’m not sure I’m quite as excited about these. I think Channel 4 has officially won me over.

The best aspet of these is the music, particularly the football one. I like that the BBC kept a signature music tune, as that is one of the best aspects of the dancers.
I like these…but they are not as unique as the dancers, which I still love.
It looks like the best of both worlds. You get the concept of the Dancer idents with classic globe like logo.
Reminds me of Sky.
Oh come on BBC – what was wrong with Gill Sans and the Globe? Red Bee seems to be progressivly undoing all of Lambie-Narin’s great work.
IMO these are five thousand times better than the dancers! The dances look nice as a one-off an event at a stadium perhaps or the vote section of Eurovision; but these were never meant for idents!
The new ones are great! It’s the kind of thing you see on European TV but never before in the UK. Reminds me a little of Ned1 in the Netherlands. the only complaints I have is the red at the end of the bike ident is too strong and a little unnecessary. Also the kites at the end of the kite ident look very fake. The end of the football one just looks weird!
You can see all the new idents in a montage at this link:

They look beatiful, the new logo are beautiful too. I’m French and the French TV is very late by report the British TV. Please correct my mistakes! Thank you.
Cannot wait till saturday.
they don’t initially hit me as being classic idents.
they feel a bit over cooked.
the channel 4 idents work so well because there is no need for text.
the circular design doesn’t sit well in a wide screen format.
It would have been far better to take examples of circles found in nature than having to comp CGI to look as if people are flying kites in a circle etc…
Just because they cost millions to make, they don’t look worth millions.
usually the simpler the idea the better
I actuly do like these. much beter than the dancers.
Can you tell me whereabouts in London the ident showing the “Window Panes” – circle of reflecting windows, is?

You’re right!! For us former BBC techno-purists staff, RedBee are just a bunch of scatterbrained illogical creatives; they even abolished the clock [linked to atomic time] which appeared before the “fixed” 13.00, 18.00 and 22.00 News, which now start three to four seconds after the hour. Everything is now about changing the “brand image” every three years to collect a whopping fee for Macquarie Capital Funds [Europe], RedBee’s Australian owners.
But I see the contract to supply “identity” and “transmission services” to the Corp. is up for renewal or otherwise Check the RedBee website “Management Team” profile feature; – the President and 2nd-in command don’t want their photos shown. I’d award the new franchise to some German firm who’d never take the clock away!
