..those three things are about the extent of my Swiss knowledge; we all know about the passport countrol and neutral stance Switzerland has taken, it turns out the countries latin name is Confœderatio Helvetica (which explains the .ch domain), and Carl Jung, who briefly had a crush on Freud was born there.

I’ve never been to the country, but its always interested me, and thanks to Christian I’m proud to be able to show you these beautiful idents, of what looks like a beautiful country from the Swiss public broadcaster SF. Its been a while since I liked a set of idents quite as much as these.

Two more clips after the jump.

Impressive!

Off topic but why did they change the House theme tune in series 2? It doesn’t sound as good without the weird flute noise.

Can we expect some more Swiss idents?

(PS I very much doubt it’s a flute!)

I think these idents are brilliant. I think they look like a really good BBC One / Channel 4 hybrid (with maybe a bit of five inspired music).

Two channels, actually:
SF1 and SF2.

And then there’s the French and Italian swiss channels: TSR and TSI 1 and 2.
The reason there are no nationwide private broadcasters in Switzerland is because the previous ones failed (such as TV3) and they get about 40 of them free to air from Germany via SES Astra at 19.2 degrees. Swiss TV is available (but encrypted) on HotBird 13 degrees, but under the horizon from Australia.
