Channel 4 relaunched the branding of its digital sibling E4 last Monday with five new idents and a refreshed on-air look. Above are four of the new idents (will post the fifth when I find it). The concept needs a bit of explanation, but unlike some other idents, these seem to make some sense. Basically they are meant to;
transform a typically British scene – such as a barn, a beach hut or a hotel – into a “deranged E4 space” where the “weird and wonderful colourfully unfolds”
Thats the word from the networks senior producer anyway. Whatever they are meant to be, they will probably appeal to the networks target audience, and really can a network that plays this much free-to-air Scrubs be all that bad? An example of a new look promo is after the jump, so..

– Big thanks to Andy and Craig for the videos.

Thank god they’ve got rid of the old idents. My god they were so annoying.

What programme was “some scenes have been created for entertainment purposes” for?
Usually most American reality shows they mention that over, eg: The Simple Life, Age of Love etc..
The best thing about E4 is its branding. Their promotions have always been the funniest things on E4 (nearly) and although their last idents have gotten really annoying, I still class them as great for being a bit ‘wacky bonkers’ and just original.
Since E4 became free to air there was definitely a drop in quality. But now it’s moved right up the Freeview EPG I rarely watch it, so totally missed these idents. Cheers for uploading them!
It’s so MTV-ish.
Hi John!
You can find all the idents and the bumpers on Noah Harris’ website.
Don’t know if I am allowed to post URLs, but just google for “e4 07 noah harris”, and you’re there.
Has anybody seen that weird bumper/advert for the E4 website? What was that contraption meant to be? There’s so much going on in that scene, you can’t take all of it in in such a short amount of time. I did notice something that looked as though it was made with the head of a stuffed toy and part of a tuba. Are there any videos of this anywhere?
Any feedback greatly appreciated.
