Living in Prime-affiliate-country I haven’t had much of a chance to develop any sort of love and/or hate relationship for the Seven TV-mascot thing. The idents are well made and the TV man character is fairly endearing, but I guess anything is better then ‘bringing it home to me’. (Thanks Matt).

You missed out a w in the www in the Paton Creative address, John. I love the TV man – I think his full name is Timmy the TV. I love Timmy – he’s so adorable. They really need to make a plush Timmy. 😀

I totally agree, Tim makes me laugh, btw did you see that 7 new years countdown video, ROFL, Nicolette Sheridan “turned him on” 😆 😀

Maybe it’s just me, but I find the Channel 7 logo attempts quite immature compared to, say, SBS.

…but I suppose it might be due to a different demographic…

Yes it may be the demo. I really like “Timmy the TV”. Weird how at the begining of last year (2005) he was actually “real” and now he’s gone all digital. Prob. cause so many people liked him. I’ve heard that so many people hate the “GOTTALOVEIT” slogan but I think it’s alright. It’s good that they change it, not like Nine who ahve had “Still the One” for who knows long. Can’t wait to se the “new look” Nine. I really hope they change the slogan and get rid of the dots. I hate their promo banner thing that they have at the bottom of every TV show trailer, you know the selected colour to the left and then white with the logo on top to the right, they should really change that, it’s knid of dull now. Go Timmy the TV!!!

At the risk of going off topic, the one thing I would like to change on TV is… Toyota adverts. How much longer do we have to put up with “Oh what a feeling” and a frozen jump at the end?

Well, Toyota’s been using it for at least a decade and a half, and I’ve got oh what a big feeling that they’re gonna do a Nine and stay with that tagline for at least another decade. 😛

I absolutely love Seven’s TV guy, and I loved those promos from last year when it was an actual guy running around with the chick, they were hilarious. Overall I’d have to say Seven has the slickest on screen image from their promos, enticing programme ads, News intros and sets (at least the Melb and Syd ones which are identical) to Today Tonight’s look and the lovely Naomi. Ten looks ammaturish and cheap, as with everyting on the big 1 0. Nine is boring and very outdated, and while their news intros are good, the sets are tired as are the presenters. Also their backdrops are so old, e.g in Melbourne National Nine News has shots over Crown at night with its flames shooting up and also behind the news reader there is a photo of the city, but both the footage and the photo are at least 3 years old and while they doesn’t sound bad, the city’s skylinehas changed a lot, including the construction of Eureka Tower the worlds tallest residential tower at Southbank. It is appalling. As for the ABC and SBS, while I like their new looks and News intros, I just don’t feel an affinity for them. Meanwhile FOX8’s new look is really good and a pleasant change from the rehashed same old one they had for nearly 10 years!

I too have to put up with the silly prime “bringing it home to me” slogan. today i noticed they are now using seven personalitys to introduce the prime time line up, for instance today Toby Allan from DWTS poped up just after a prime news break and said “prime, bringing it home to me, tonight”. anyway i too love the channel 7 guy!
