The Hollowmen is a new political comedy/drama coming to ABC1 from July 9th. With this being the first on-air promo for the new show. The use of photographs in the video is a possible allusion to a 2004 election campaign commercial that adopted a similar style, or perhaps I’m just reading too much into it.
Produced by the Working Dog, the team behind Frontline and The Castle, the show is about “the workings of an internal think tank, set up by the Prime Minister, whose responsibility is long-term policy vision”.

That background music reminds me of an instrumental version of I know, but just can’t put my finger on it. Does anyone recognise it?
Yes, I’d like to know about the music too… but what I’d really like to know is whether or not this will be vodcast.
I thought it sounded familiar too so I asked the ABC and they told me it was called “Fallen Angels” by Olivier Foubert. Unfortunately, I’m none the wiser. I couldn’t find anything about it on the internet.
No vodcast, I’m afraid, but you can stream each episode for 1 week after its broadcast at The Hollowmen website.
Re: the music, it’s vexing isn’t it? At first I thought it sounded like Blue Oyster Cult’s Don’t Fear The Reaper. Now I think it sounds more like The Sunnyboys’ Alone With You Tonight.
I have the answer to the music question. Its “North by North” by the Bats. See http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=GumfkPsrLF4 for the music video.
Thanks, Peter, mystery solved it seems. Since I wasn’t familiar with their music, I listened to a few other Bats songs while I was on YouTube and they aren’t half bad. I have to wonder where the ABC got their information!
I want someone to make the ABC’s slightly remixed version into a full song!

I’ll second that. I’d buy it in a flash!
