So Kerry Packer is dead, it looks like the whole network could be going up for sale (although apparently not), and the word on the street is that Channel 9 will be completely relaunching on New Years day.. what better time to have a look back on the 9 brand (except because I live in Canberra the part of 9 will be played by Win) and ask, why do so many people watch you?
Continue for more videos..
Its a bit of a mixed bag but if you’d never watched Channel 9 hopefully it gives you an idea of what the network is all about.
Also if anyone lives in an area where 9 (not Win or NBN) is broadcast and can capture some idents for me before the change over (if it happens) please send me an email.

Thanks so much, John, I’ve always wanted to see 9’s graphics package, so sad to see the well known logo go. 🙁
Good to see these, I always liked the Channel 9 branding ans music (except for the news presentation which I think looks like it’s come straight out of the 1970s). It’ll be interesting to see if they drop the 9 ‘dots’ – i thought this was a good way of linking Channel 9 with it’s WIN affliliates.
That’s a nice little selection of idents and continuity clips, John, and I’ll be interested to see what Channel 9 have in store in 2006.
Great selection of 9/WIN clips. Will be sad to see the dots go,they have had a good run of 35 years or so.
EDIT: WTF, WIN is terrible at PRG, is it me or is that (M) rating sqaushed, very basic animation!! 😯 👿
Apparently, the dots are going (completely), and the logo itself will be changed. I’m assuming that WIN and NBN will be redesigned (about bloody time, too) at the same time – there’ll be no ‘missing’ links between Nine, WIN and NBN.
Channel Nine will change their logo and idents on January 30, 2006. Story here: http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,17941311%5E7582,00.html
