While I’ve gushed over these BBC One ‘Rhythm & Movement’ idents before, and posted the Little Britain variants, I’ve just realised I didn’t have a big post to show off the whole collection, so here it is. (I think all I’m missing is “haka” and any regional ones).

Like I’ve said before these are pretty much the reason I started the blog, and while I’m not sure I’m as excited about them as I once was, they certainly represent something I’m becoming pretty passionate about… I’m just trying to figure out exactly what that is.

Below the fold are the French and Saunders parodies, along with the “One Last Dance” video that gave the idents their final outing before they changed in October last year.

So keep reading…

Above is the farewell to the idents, that played late the night before they switched, and below are the two French and Saunders parodies.

Ah yes. Over half a year on and I still don’t miss these bastards! Beautiful the first time round, hateful the other hundred times, esp the “music video” one. That said, I’ve subscribed to this site’s vodcast and the ballet ident looks stunning full screen. I think think these idents were one of the reasons I fell out of love with BBC One and perhaps even the BBC. Luckily (and suspiciously since those idents have come off air) I’ve taken an active interest in the general BBC service. The news site and News 24 are viewed by myself daily. I’m even watching BBC4 now!

The audio for those idents was brilliant, really really good. Shame that this set is less brilliant.

There was an ident the BBC done to promote the 2002 commonweath games in manchester. It featured two guys doing judo, one threw the other on a concrete surface and the ground cracked on impact ( graphics) does anyone know where i can get a copy of it?

Amazing idents, watching them now, 18months after they stopped airing, is so strange. I remember them all so well, every little quirk that is only noticible when you have seen each one a hundred times. Love it!

@Ryan, know exactly what you mean by “every little quirk”, particularly the sexy salsa dancer, always used to catch my attention that one!

You probably don’t have ‘Haka’ because mysteriously it was removed in 2005, and you probably recorded these after then.
