If only the biggest problem Australia had with its digital conversion was reminding people to rescan so they could get another two channels.

This neat promo for FiveLife and FiveUS has John Suchet reminding everyone to rescan for the new Five channels now available on digital.

-Thanks Craig for the video

The first 3 minutes of the new FiveUS digital channel just launched in the UK. It basically just introduces the programming, and you meet Russell who between shows will be touring the US talking to the people behind some of the shows and looking at the culture that we so love and hate.

Like in the other FiveUS clips this one also includes Sufjan Steven’s “Chicago”, but also mixes in a bit of Razorlight’s “America”.

Along with FiveUS, a new channel targeted at women has also been brought online by Five. Five Life will feature the likes of The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Home and Away.

More exciting for me though is the inclusion of Love My Way in the line up. I only recently discovered the show, and documented my enthusiasm for it here. If you live in the UK give it a go, and if you live in Australia catch up with the DVD’s because I think the third season is due soon.

Update: John Suchet reminding you to rescan for the new channels.

Channel Five just launched two new digital only channels, FiveUS is as you could probably guess for American programming and will include the likes of the CSI’s and some American sports.

The music in the first video is appropriately enough “Chicago” by Sufjan Stevens, which is an awesome awesome song in its own right.

The third video is the first three minutes of Five US introducing the new channel, and also features the song “America” by Razorlight.

Update: John Suchet reminding you to rescan for the new channels.

In a week that I blogged Australia’s three commercial network and two public broadcaster news openers I thought I’d round it all out with these three commercial news openers from the UK.

I’ve already posted the BBC News openers, and while they remain my favourite I do like the Channel 4 set.

Crime time on Prime, Seven.. and Five?

I was recording Prime tonight, and as I flicked through the ads I noticed this promo for “Crime Prime Time Wednesday” that looked amazingly similar to a crime promo I saw while I was in the UK for Channel Five.

I hadn’t recorded a copy while I was in London but I did find footage online at The TV Room. If you compare the two you quickly realise they use the exact same footage. I’m going to assume Channel Five created the footage originally, it’s just weird that they would sell it to another network to use, well that or Seven stole it.

Why can’t an Australian network do something as cool and simple as a shark eating a meat version of their logo? Love it.
