The one with the children’s toy rides was filmed in an underpass under Queensway in Newport by the train station. Interesting piece of trivia – this underpass no longer exists, and personally I’m intrigued they managed to find a day to film when there wasn’t a homeless person asleep in it.

Just a warning that on November 1st S4C will be launching 10 new idents to go side by side with the current ones. They will tie in with the theme of bringing welsh people together, except that these idents will apparantly interact with the individual announcers voice (A bit like BBC Fours old ones). Not too sure how thats going to work….

Now, this is how idents should be! Clean, beautiful music, beautiful scenery, a great idea…this is now my favorite idents…it makes me sad that the BBC, who used to had so beautiful and bold ideas, well…got beaten by the guys at 4 ^^;

I despised these when they were first released but now I have grown to love them. They are superb idents, just as good as Channel 4′s.

These are great, especially the ones featuring the dramatic Welsh coastline.

I’d love to hear someone speaking Welsh. In Cornish, a language related to Welsh, “hy a Scullyas lyf a dhagrow” means “She wasted my pint”!

When I first saw them, I didn’t like it too much mainly because of the logo, but couple of months I like it. However the new logo still doesn’t appeal to me.

S4C have jumped on the bandwagon with weird and wonderful idents. A little Channel 4-esc, but yet they still manage to claim their independence from them. To see how weird the Welsh language is, take a look at the signage in the “trolley” ident. For a channel that’s never going to get an audience of more than 600,000 they’re certainly made one hell of an effort.
